From Dark To Light
Hello sweet friends, I just wanted to share a couple of new paintings in the works (almost done I think.) They're part of a new series"From Dark to Light." I'm so happy to be painting again after a little hiatus. I've been busy refocusing on routine and self-love and all that good stuff. It felt so great to dive right back in to the crisp cool waters of paint and dreaminess. And the good news is I'm doing it in the mornings! Thats right! My sleeping and waking issues have been so much better the past 2 weeks. Thank heavens for that. I always felt like I painted "better" at night, or later in the day, but these two were done in the morning w/ my semi-sleepy head and I really love them. I'll be more of a sleepy-head morning light painter from now on. Two weekends ago I had the opportunity to attend a Duni fire ceremony all about Letting Go. We wrote down things we'd like to let go of and threw our papers in the fire. I spent the night at the ashram (which was a real treat!) and kept feeling like I left a big suitcase behind. A big suitcase of garbage! I felt so much lighter afterward.
I folded my paper like an airplane and tossed it in the fire! Symbolic of a trip next week to meet some soul sisters! (more on this later) And symbolic of my journey, my past, present, future. I don't even remember what I wrote in that paper! Isn't that funny?
It was a beautiful weekend. And you don't have to have an elaborate Duni to do this! You can write down what you'd like to Let Go of and toss it in your fireplace or burn it safely outdoors in some sand w/ stones. The fire is so healing.
My studio late this morning :)
"It doesn't matter how long we may have been stuck in a sense of our limitations. If we go into a darkened room and turn on the light, it doesn't matter if the room has been dark for a day, a week, or ten thousand years - we turn on the light and it is illuminated. Once we control our capacity for love and happiness, the light has been turned on."
